Antonio Núñez has been named adopted son of the island of Gran Canaria

The Cabildo de Gran Canaria has made public the list of personalities distinguished in this 2025 with the recognitions of the institution, including Professor and Emeritus Professor of Electronic Technology Antonio Núñez, who has been named Adopted Son of the Island.

Antonio Núñez Ordóñez is Professor at the ULPGC, where he has been teaching since its foundation, now as emeritus, as he was previously a professor at the Polytechnic University of Las Palmas. He promoted the creation of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación de Las Palmas and later the growth and expansion of the new campus of the recently created ULPGC towards the area of Tafira on the island of Gran Canaria. His initiative was equally decisive in the creation of the University Institute of Applied Microelectronics. He would reach the rank of Professor in 1998.
