Prof. Antonio Núñez is interviewed in La Provincia

Professor of Electronic Technology Antonio Núñez is interviewed in the newspaper La Provincia on the occasion of the awarding of the Medal of the ULPGC, for being a pillar in the advancement of this institution and in the development of microelectronics and telecommunications.

In his statements he emphasizes that “STEM disciplines must be promoted because a country without technology does not move forward”. He also recalls the processes of transformation of the Polytechnic University of the Canary Islands (UPC) in the current University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), where he calls attention to the fact that the role of the UPC “has been blurred with the creation of the ULPGC in 1989. He also draws attention to the investment in technological development in Gran Canaria indicating that “the GDP dedicated to R+D+I in Las Palmas is insignificant, and that makes us be behind in education metrics, productivity and diversification of the economy”.
