Callico<\/strong>&nbsp;was born in Granada, Spain, in 1970. He received the M.S. degree in telecommunication engineer in 1995 and the Ph.D. degree and the European Doctorate in 2003, all from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ulpgc.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">ULPGC<\/a>) and all with honours. From 1996 to 1997 he was granted with a research grant from the National Educational Ministry and in 1997 he was hired by the university as an Electronic Lecturer. In 1994 he joined the Institute for Applied Microelectronics (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.iuma.ulpgc.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">IUMA<\/a>) and from 2000 to 2001 he stayed at the Philips research Laboratories (NatLab) in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, as a visiting scientist, where he developed his Ph.D. thesis. He is currently a tenured Full Professor at the ULPGC and develops his research activities in the Integrated Systems Design Division of the Institute for Applied Microelectronics (IUMA). He has more than 250 publications in national and international journals, conferences and book chapters. He participated in 28 research projects funded by the European Community, the Spanish Government and international private industries. Dr. Callico currently serves as an active reviewer of 27 journals, being the most representative the Journal of Real Time Image Processing (JRTIP); the EURASIP&nbsp;<em>Journal on Embedded Systems: Embedded Systems for Portable and Mobile Video Platforms;<\/em>&nbsp;the ETRI&nbsp;<em>Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute;<\/em>&nbsp;the ACM&nbsp;<em>Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems;<\/em>&nbsp;the&nbsp;<em>Microprocessors and Microsystems: Embedded Hardware Design<\/em>&nbsp;(MICPRO) journal; the SPIE&nbsp;<em>Journal of Electronic Imaging<\/em>; the&nbsp;<em>Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters<\/em>&nbsp;(GRSL); the&nbsp;<em>Journal of Signal Processing Systems<\/em>; the&nbsp;<em>Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing<\/em>&nbsp;(JSTAR); the SPIE&nbsp;<em>Optical Engineering<\/em>; the&nbsp;<em>Sensors<\/em>&nbsp;Journal; the&nbsp;<em>British Journal of Neurosurgery<\/em>. He was a Senior Editor of the IEEE&nbsp;<em>Transactions on Consumer Electronics<\/em>&nbsp;from 2009 to 2021 and he is currently an Associate Editor of the IEEE Access from 2016. He is a Senior Member of IEEE from 2019. He was the Coordinator of the European project HELICoiD (FET, Future and Emerging Technologies) under the Seventh Framework Program, from 2014 to 2016. From 2015 he is the director on the GPU research Centre, supported by NVIDIA. Since 2015, he is the scientific-technological manager of the scientific-technical equipment project called \u201cSystem of acquisition of hyper-spectral images of high spatial and spectral definition\u201d, funded by the General Directorate of Research and Management of the National R&amp;D Plan, for the acquisition of a hyper-spectral acquisition system in the range of 400nm to 2500nm. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Pavia (Italy) in October 2015 and March 2019, and from that date, he belongs to the Council of Doctors of that University. He habitually collaborates with the University of Tromso (Norway), the University of Pavia (Italy), and the University of Texas at Dallas (USA). His current fields of research include hyperspectral systems for real-time cancer detection, real-time super-resolution algorithms, synthesis-based design for SOCs and circuits for multimedia processing and video coding standards, especially for H.264 and SVC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is currently a lecturer in Analog and Digital Electronics, as well as in Image Processing
