The overall objective of the project TALENT (arTificiAl inteLligence and high-pErformaNce systems applied to e-health and smarT farming) is to acquire, process and analyse using Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence techniques multiple digital data sources in order to improve early real-time decision making. At the University Institute of Applied Microelectronics (ULPGC) we will carry out the subproject «TALENT-HExPERIA: HypErsPEctRal Imaging for Artificial intelligence applications». It will focus on designing and developing hyperspectral image acquisition systems in order to acquire microscopic and macroscopic samples and generate high quality data sets to be used for training, tuning and validation of machine learning and deep learning neural networks. In addition, we will address the design and development of efficient algorithms for pre-processing and processing of hyperspectral images based on artificial intelligence techniques.

The implementation of developed AI-based algorithms to achieve real-time performance on computational platforms with varying amounts of resources will also be considered. Finally, the suitability of hyperspectral image acquisition systems, AI-based techniques and real-time implementations, developed in the framework of the two use cases considered in this subproject: brain tumour detection and smart agriculture, will be demonstrated.
