Antonio Rodríguez Almeida graduated from Telecommunications Engineering Bachelor’s Degree chosing the Electronics Systems intensification at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, in January 2018. Afterwards, he recieved the Biomedical Engineering Master’s Degree chosing the Bioelectronics and Medical Technology intensification from the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia, Spain, in September 2020. He is currently developing his PhD studies on Artificial Intelligence algorithms applied to the analysis and predictions of chronic diseases, together with the acceleration of such algorithms using high performance computing platforms like FPGAs or GPUs.
Antonio has been conceded a 4-year pre-doctoral grant from the ACIISI (Investigation, Innovation and Society Canarian Agency) of the Government of the Canary Islands to work as a Research Fellow at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and finish his PhD studies. This grant expires in July 2025. He is conducting his research activity in the Integrated System Design Division in the Institute for Applied Microelectronics of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain. His work is linked to the European Project WARIFA (WAtching the RIsk FActors: Artificial Intelligence and the prevention of chronic conditions). His latest works are related with chronic diseases synthetic data generation and evaluation, diabetes risk calculators and automatic detection of cardiac sounds using Convolutional Neural Networks.
