Guillermo V. Socorro Marrero received the BSc in Telecommunication Engineering (5-years degree) from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), Spain, in July 2016. Afterwards, he started his master studies at the University Institute of Intelligent Systems and Numerical Applications in Engineering (SIANI), and he is currently conducting his PhD studies in Telecommunication Technologies and Computational Engineering at the ULPGC, focused on automatic topology detection and adaptive mesh generation.
In 2003 he received the collaboration scholarship in the Microelectronic Technology Division at the University Institute for Applied Microelectronics (IUMA) to perform passive component modelling and on-wafer measurements. Then, he was granted the collaboration scolarship in the Advance Numeric Algebra Division at SIANI to develop 2D orographic meshes. From 2011 to 2017 he participated in several R&D projects funded by the Spanish Government and international companies focused on automatic mesh generation for oil field simulation and environmental applications such as wind forecasting and solar radiation prediction. He was member of the he Medical Technology and Audiovisual Group (GTMA) at the University Institute for Biomedical and Health Research (IUIBS), working for three years as medical image engineer in the MACbioIDi project aimed at the implementation of affordable medical technology for developing countries. In May 2023, he joined the Integrated System Design Division at IUMA where he is conducting his research on hyperspectral imaging system for dermatological cancer detection.
His main research interests include medical signal processing, computer-aided diagnosis and prognosis of cancer, and interpretability of artificial intelligence systems.
