IUMA researcher Raquel León receives the Outstanding Young Researchers Award

Researcher Raquel León, from the Division of Integrated Systems Design (DSI) at the IUMA, has been awarded the Outstanding Young Researcher Award for her outstanding contribution in the field of Engineering and Architecture.

The award, granted by the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Transfer of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, recognises the hard work and academic excellence of young researchers who have demonstrated a significant impact in their respective areas of study. In this sense, Raquel León has stood out for her dedication and commitment to research in the field of disease identification using hyperspectral imaging.

Since joining the IUMA, Raquel León has participated in several projects, both national and international, related to the use of hyperspectral imaging for cancer detection. In 2020, she obtained the Personal Researcher in Training contract from the Government of the Canary Islands to carry out her thesis focused on this line. During this time, the young researcher has published her advances in conferences and high impact journals, most recently in npj Precision Oncology, where she summarised the use of hyperspectral imaging in the field of neurosurgery. npj Precision Oncology, donde resume el uso de la imagen hiperespectral en el campo de la neurocirugía.

The BOULPGC has published on [date] the final resolution granting this recognition. The award ceremony of the Recognition of Outstanding Young Researchers will take place on Thursday 25th April 2024 at 17:00 in the Paraninfo of the ULPGC, where the outstanding young researchers from all field of study will be recognised.
