Mission of the Institute of Applied Microelectronics (IUMA)
The Institute of Applied Microelectronics is a research, development, and innovation center in the field of Information and Communication Technologies, covering disciplines such as electronics, computer science, mathematics and computing, and telematics, whose applications are primarily oriented towards the fields of electronics, telecommunications, information systems, and industry 4.0.
IUMA Vision
- To be a reference research center in its field
- Establish relationships with companies and public entities to promote coordinated R&D+i projects for the development of society in related fields
- Manage all available funding sources properly to develop research activities
IUMA Objectives
The objectives of the Institute include:
- Plan, promote, organize, carry out, and disseminate research, development, and innovation activities in the field of Information and Communication Technologies
- Develop and participate in knowledge networks with other institutions and research centers that frame their activity in the field of Science and, in general, Information and Communication Technologies
- Establish stable cooperation networks in R&D+i with regional, national, and international companies that add new sources of funding to IUMA
- Transfer and exchange results and information from research work with other entities, both public and private
- Attract, train, integrate, and retain research personnel in IUMA's working groups
- Promote the training and development of specialized personnel for teaching and advanced research in the mentioned fields
- Organize and promote study seminars, postgraduate courses, and other similar activities in the areas of its research activity, as well as curricular programs with other Spanish and foreign universities and companies in the indicated topics
- Provide an appropriate means to attract external resources that contribute to financing research activity.
- Serve as a focus for attracting national and international scientists of recognized prestige who will carry out stays at the Institute, providing appropriate technological means for the completion of ongoing work, the initiation of new projects, and the planning of joint projects with institutions from other countries and with other Institutes, Centers, and Departments of our University such as Computers, Automatics, Telematics, and Telecommunications
