Investiture of three new doctors from IUMA

On February 28th, in a solemn ceremony held at the Paraninfo, the ULPGC conferred 69 new doctors , who read their theses in the 2024/2025 academic year.

In the case of IUMA, three young researchers have been trained in the Telecommunication Technologies and Computational Engineering (T2IC) program, a joint program between the IUMA and SIANI University Institutes of the ULPGC.

The new doctors are as follows:

  • Dr. Ámbar Pérez García, who completed the doctoral thesis «Towards transferable pollution detection methods in aquatic environments using hyperspectral technology» directed by the IUMA professor José Francisco López Feliciano. 
  • Dr. Pablo Fernández Moniz, whose doctoral thesis is entitled «Procesing and analyzing large volumes of geospatial data using geographic information systems and smart applications«, which has been directed by the IUMA professor José Pablo Suárez Rivero and by Professor Agustín Rafael Trujillo Pino of IUCES.

  • Dr. Abián Hernández Guedes, whose thesis is entitled «Exploring medical artificial intelligence interpretability through the lens of Information Theory», directed by professors Gustavo Marrero Callicó from IUMA and Juan Bautista Ruiz Alzola from IUIBS.

Researcher Ámbar Pérez García has received the ULPGC doctoral award in the area of ​​Engineering and Architecture for her work and academic excellence as a young researcher.
