Investiture ceremony for the new doctors for the 2022/2023 academic year

Last Saturday, January 27, 2024, the investiture ceremony was held for the new doctors from the ULPGC, who read their doctoral theses in the 2022/2023 academic year. At this event, chaired by the Rector of the ULPGC Lluís Serra Majem, the ULPGC research report was presented by the Vice-Rector for Research and Transfer of the ULPGC, Dr. Sebastián López, and the awards were presented to the new doctors, including the Extraordinary Doctorate Awards 2023.

The IUMA has contributed with the thesis presented by Mario San Miguel Montesdeoca entitled “Design of microwave integrated circuits based on iii-v technologies to reduce costs and improve the efficiency of satellite communications” under the direction of IUMA researcher Dr. Francisco Javier Del Pino Suárez.

The Extraordinary Doctorate Awards of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria are awarded to the best doctoral theses by branch of knowledge read in the last three academic years. In this sense, Dr. Yubal Barrios Alfaro has been awarded for his doctoral thesis “A modular approach for the compression of payload information on-board satellites”, directed by the IUMA Professor, Roberto Sarmiento Rodríguez and by the researcher from the European Space Agency. Dr. María Lucana Santos Falcón.
