The Government of the Canary Islands recognizes the importance of the IUMA for the new extended RIS3 strategy

On February 24, the President of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo, highlighted the importance of microelectronics and semiconductors as a key element for the sustainable growth of the Canary Islands, identifying the IUMA as a significant entity within the development of this strategy of the Canary Islands Government.

These statements were made at a meeting promoted by the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), the General Directorate of Organic Coordination and Strategic Projects of the Canary Islands Government, in collaboration with public and private agents, to promote the development of the microelectronics and semiconductor sector, in order to agree on strategic opportunities for this industry due to its high potential for economic, social and technological impact and attraction of talent, recognized academic excellence, innovation and the drive of the business network.

The director of the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society (ACIISI), Javier Franco, announced that the Smart Specialization Strategy of the Canary Islands (RIS3 extended) will continue its commitment to strengthen emerging industries during the period 2021-2027, creating the RIS3 Community of the microelectronics and semiconductor sector.
