Doctoral Thesis Defense of Abián Hernández
The Institute for Applied Microelectronics is pleased to announce the upcoming Ph.D. thesis defense of one of its researchers, Abián Hernández. This event will take place next Friday, March 7, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the “Salon de Actos” room of the Central del Parque Científico-Tecnológico Building.
Under the title ‘Exploring Medical Artificial Intelligence Interpretability through the Lens of Information Theory’, Abián Hernández's thesis explores the use of theoretical approaches to improve the interpretability of deep learning models in medical applications. This approach improves the understanding of the behaviour of the models, facilitating their design and validation in medical tasks.
The evaluation committee will be composed of Dr. Cayetano Guerra, from the University Institute of Intelligent Systems and Numerical Applications in Engineering (SIANI) of the ULPGC; Dr. Francesco Leporati, from the University of Pavia, Italy; and Dr. Raúl San José Estepar, from Harvard University, USA.
The academic community and the general public are invited to attend the presentation.
